Dear Colleagues and Friends,

We warmly welcome you to the 14th International Congress on the Biology of Fish (ICBF) in Montpellier in the south of France. These international ICBF meetings started in 1994 and have established themselves, every second year, as a premier event for the global community of researchers in the field of fish physiology.

The ICBF2021 in Montpellier is a great opportunity for this community to gather over four days, to share information about our most recent research developments.  The ICBF2021 is organised by the Physiology Section of the American Fisheries Society, in collaboration with a Local Organising Committee of fish physiologists from the Centre of Marine Biodiversity Exploitation and Conservation (MARBEC).

After a plenary session with talks by leading international experts, the ICBF2021 has a full programme of five to six concurrent thematic sessions over the four days, organised by renowned researchers.  These are on a broad range of topics that reflect current research in fish conservation physiology, environmental physiology, evolutionary physiology, use of fishes in biomedical research, etc.

The thematic sessions will comprise oral and poster presentations, selected by the session organisers from the submitted abstracts.  A special emphasis is placed upon contributions by early career researchers.   We encourage you, therefore, to submit your abstract for an oral or poster presentation at the ICBF2021 in Montpellier.

After great meetings in cities such as Barcelona, Calgary, Edinburgh, Manaus, Portland, San Francisco, the ICBF2021 will take place from July 6th to 9th 2021 at the Corum Conference centre in Montpellier, France. This 14th International Congress on the Biology of Fish will provide an opportunity to enjoy the company of our international colleagues, to exchange information and establish long lasting collaborations.

We will be delighted to welcome you to Montpellier in 2021!

David J. McKenzie
Chair, Local Organising Committee.
