Sessions

At this year’s GfI conference, participants will have the opportunity to organise their own sessions on specific topics for the first time. A session usually comprises 3-4 presentations (20 minutes including discussion). The sessions are organised and chaired by one person (e.g. coordinating topics with the speakers).

Leading a session (e.g. as a chair) at a scientific conference has several functions – technical, strategic and career-related. Especially with regard to promoting young talent and enhancing CVs, it can be an exciting task, particularly for young scientists.

Sessions are thematically grouped blocks of presentations or posters. Tasks as chair include, for example: introducing the topic, presenting the speakers, time management, moderating the discussion, summarising key points if necessary, and ensuring a constructive discussion atmosphere. Often added to this are: co-designing content, selecting contributions, and setting strategic priorities.

Registering a session

To register a session, please contact the Executive Board: <vorstand@ichthyologie.de>. If more than one request for a session is received, the Executive Board reserves the right to make a selection.
